Southern Line Atlanta
This is our line dance team in Atlanta. See team rehearsals on the calendar – Mondays at Wild Mustang 7pm -9pm. They are working on a cabaret performance piece for the July 4th 2009 conference in Washington DC. Troy Inman is choreographing a cool combination for them.

3 Legged Cowboy

Sacramento DanceSport is the largest Same-Sex Dance program in the United States! It was founded by Kilee Cooper and Camille Wojtasiak in 2002 and have been teaching women and men to dance Latin and Standard Ballroom dancing ever since.

Kilee and Camille have been dancing together in the same-sex competition scene for five years. Under the direction of Danny Lerer for the last two years, Kilee and Camille have moved to the top of the World Same Sex Dance Scene. Their win at the London Open and at the World Federation Championship in 2005, solidifies their position as the top US Women’s Latin couple and challenges the field for the claim of top Women’s World couple. In 2004, they were joined by Jaime Cooper to instruct students the fine art of form, frame and not falling down.

The GayGames were held in Chicago July 15 – 22, 2006 with dance competitions and performances. Photos on the site.

Seattle has an active GLBT Country Western Dance Community. Seattle’s LGBT C&W dance crowd dances every Friday night at “The Cuff” on Capitol Hill hosted by the Rain Country Dance Association. Out Dancing is a dance project in Portland, OR, which began in 1995. It provides dance instruction for the GLBT community and their friends. Same-sex partners as well as their ‘straight’ friends can learn how to dance in a safe and friendly atmosphere. Along with group classes they have a monthly dance party and hold an annual Ball.

The United State Alternative DanceSport Federation has been created to enhance the dancing community. It has three different divisions – amateur couples, same-sex couples, and differently able couples.

The World Outgames are in Copenhagen Denmark July 25 – August 2 2009.

The Gay Games are in Cologne, Germany in 2010.

The World Federation of Same-Sex Dancing supports and promotes the sport of same-sex dancing throughout the world. Their goals include sponsorship of dancers and events, as well as the development of a coordinated structure for promoting and supporting competitions throughout the world. They organized a world dance competition in Sacramento in 2005 and are planning a second world competition in 2006 in Budapest.

The Pink Jukebox: Hosts regular dances and lessons  and an annual competition in and around London

Victor- Victoria is a creative group of serious and fun-loving dancers in Leeds, England. Their dances are sold-out one-of-a-kind costume balls. The photos are worth the visit to the site. And if you can arrange to go across the pond, buy your ticket early!

The Gay Gordons are London’s GLBT Scottish country dancing club. Drop in to our weekly sessions, and we’ll have you spinning, reeling, and jigging before you know where you are. We meet weekly, and organize two to three ceilidhs (dances – pronounced kalees) a year. The group is constantly growing in popularity, and we have been described by Time Out magazine as “the reel thing”.

Studio La Danza: Running several gay and lesbian classes in London.

The World Federation of Same Sex Dancing has chosen Hungary’s first competition for Same Sex dancing, “The Csardas Cup” to be the 2006 World Championship. The date is 21 October 2006. Both the Federation and the organizers of the Csardas Cup invite all the same sex dancers to the beautiful town of Budapest in 2006.

UNIque Dance is a same sex dance project in the Netherlands. Cor Besseling and Arno Doorn, have managed the dance project since 2000. Their yearly competition, The Zwolse IJsselcup ijsselcup.uniquedance.nl, is the fastest growing same-sex competition in the Netherlands. Paris, France. The annual GLBT Ball in Paris in February, at the historic Salle Wagram, a turn of the century ballroom. It’s a wonderful setting. The ball runs from midnight till dawn. www.gaismusette.com
